This incredible shibori piece from the 1960s boasts long sleeves in the furisode style. Furisode kimonos were traditionally worn by unmarried women, they are usually very colourful and with great details. This silk piece has a tie dye motif embellished with hand twisted shibori technique. Each small shibori knot creates this delicate floral motif before being dyed and then untied. This traditional technique has been recently industrialised and it is now very rare to see real shibori craftsmanship. You will now find many recent style shibori kimonos/haoris which are usually not made of silk and with all over machine made shibori.
All of our vintage kimonos are hand sown, one of a kind and sourced from private collections in Japan.
